Understanding Target Employees in Sociuu

When you're creating new content in Sociuu, it's important to target the right employees to ensure your message reaches the intended audience. To give you the flexibility to do this, you can use the "Target Employees" selection, which allows you to build a customized list of employees using both "Include" and "Exclude" selections.

Here's how it works:

Include Employees

You can choose to include employees by selecting:

  • Individual Employees

  • User groups

  • Departments

By adding specific employees, usergroups, or departments to your "Include" list, you'll create a targeted group of employees who will receive the content.

Exclude Employees

To refine your target audience even further, you can also exclude certain employees using the same criteria:

  • Individual Employees

  • User groups

  • Departments

Adding exclusions helps you create an even more precise list of employees, ensuring that those who shouldn't receive the content are left out and do not receive the content,

How It Works

The system dynamically calculates your target audience by considering both your "Include" and "Exclude" selections. It takes a union of these lists, meaning the final group of employees is based on the most current memberships in the selected usergroups and departments.

Dynamic Employee Lists

Keep in mind that if you choose to include or exclude employees based on usergroups or departments, these lists are dynamic. This means they will automatically update as employees join or leave these groups.

Individual Employee Selection takes precedence

A key detail to remember is that individual employee selections—whether in the "Include" or "Exclude" list—take precedence over group-based selections. If you specifically include or exclude an employee, they will always be included or excluded, regardless of whether they fit the broader group criteria.

Example: Creating a Targeted Employee List

Let’s say you’re preparing a piece of content in Sociuu that is specifically meant for a new product launch. You want to ensure it reaches the right employees while avoiding those who aren’t directly involved. Here’s how you might set up your "Include" and "Exclude" selections:

Step 1: Include Selection

You decide that the following groups should receive the content:

  • Sales Department (because they need to know about the product to sell it)

  • Marketing Department (since they’ll be promoting the product)

  • Product Development Team (they created the product and need to see the final launch details)

  • John Doe (an individual employee from the Finance Department who needs to review pricing)

So, your "Include" list looks like this:

  • Sales Department

  • Marketing Department

  • Product Development Team

  • John Doe

Step 2: Exclude Selection

However, you want to exclude certain employees to refine your audience:

  • Interns Group (you don’t want interns to receive this content, as it's not relevant to them)

  • Support Department (they don't need this information at this stage)

  • Jane Smith (an individual in the Sales Department who is on leave and doesn’t need to be included)

So, your "Exclude" list looks like this:

  • Interns Group

  • Support Department

  • Jane Smith

Final List Calculation

Here’s how the system calculates your final list of employees:

  1. Starts with the Include List: The system gathers all employees in the Sales Department, Marketing Department, Product Development Team, and includes John Doe.

  2. Applies the Exclude List: Next, it removes any employees who are part of the Interns Group, Support Department, and specifically excludes Jane Smith, even though she was initially included as part of the Sales Department.

Final Result

The final list of employees who will receive the content includes:

  • All employees in the Sales Department (except Jane Smith)

  • All employees in the Marketing Department

  • All employees in the Product Development Team

  • John Doe from the Finance Department

This process ensures that only the relevant employees receive the content, making your communication precise and effective.
